Getting lost at Substack? I got you..for those who need a Visual treasure hunt map.
I didn’t set out to make a guide.
I set out to post something simple—something small, meaningful, creative. But what I walked into was a hall of mirrors. Substack, for all its promise, splits you in two: there’s you the creator, and you the reader. Two identities. Two profiles. And if you're not careful, you’ll post from the wrong one and wonder why nobody sees you.
That’s what happened to me.
I created something beautiful—a clean, visual piece that I wanted to share. But every time I tried to upload it, Substack wrapped me in confusion. My profile image showed up in the wrong place. My posts appeared under the wrong identity. My readers couldn’t find me—or worse, I couldn’t find myself.
So I stopped.
I stepped back.
And I started mapping the whole thing like a portalwalker inside a system built to distract.
---
What I Found:
The space labeled “My Substack” isn’t where you post—it’s your reader shell.
The real creator space—your publication—lives under whatever name you gave it (in my case, Beyond Visions).
If you upload a logo to the wrong profile, it shows up everywhere.
You can’t fix a visibility problem by uploading more. You have to name the structure first.
---
What Helped:
I created a chart. I renamed both profiles.
I gave each a distinct image, a new name, a clear boundary.
I started to understand what part of me was being mirrored—and what part was finally creating.
---
If you're a creator who’s ever felt like you're playing whack-a-mole with your own identity on Substack—this post is for you.
Let this be your mirror map.
Let this be your reset point.
Let this be the moment you remember: you’re not lost. The system just wasn’t made for multidimensional thinkers.
But we’re here now.
Welcome to Beyond Visions.
